Aetherology Featured Alum

Sirocco Coro, Class of 129, has leveraged his Mytherial aetherology education to inspire and serve others.

“In order to free our minds and reach our true potential, we need to learn to let go.”

When eighteen-year-old Sirocco Coro arrived at MIEE, he barely understood what Mythera was. His mother, herself an Elemage, claims she saw signs of energy and focus in him from a young age that prompted her to bring him to the institute’s signature magic test. Once admitted, he loved the idea of studying fire. Coro even admits he was disappointed when he placed into the Aetherology department after his first year.

However, he now recounts that the study of air changed his life, even stating that “he couldn’t imagine being anything other than an Windmage.” Teachers described Sirocco as a cautiously questioning pupil, always asking why and curious to understand the physics behind the magic he learned to wield. At MIEE, he partook in study abroad courses to coastal villages, arid deserts, and wind-eroded ancient peaks. Additionally, he pursued extracurricular experiences as a commercial pilot’s assistant and a deck-hand to a sailboat racing team. However, it wasn’t until his senior winter when he stumbled into what he would become his career.

While engaging in debauchery with his two closest friends, Anori and Dema, also class of 129, Sirocco realized how fun the art of levitation can be. All Elemages learn to manipulate air to float as part of their curriculum, but these three wanted to see if they could make others float. Through advanced independent study in aerodynamics and living matter manipulation, they achieved what was thought to be impossible.

Today, Sirocco runs a parachute-free skydiving company. He harnesses his aetherology skills to give non-Elemages the experience of flying, floating with them and controlling their fall from a helicopter. His business model not only reduces the need for safety equipment but is also tons of fun. Through his ingenuity, all can fly like a windmage! He states that, “with imagination, determination, and a touch of luck, anything is possible at Mytherial!”
