Our one-of-a-kind Elemental Testing Period takes place at the start of the Fourth Quarter each year. This is a time for deep focus, celebration, and new discoveries, during which first year students study the culture and magic within each elemental house.

At the beginning of the quarter, first years are grouped randomly into four cohorts, each of which group is then assigned an element. They then spend one week fully immersed in the lifestyle and teachings of each element, for a total of twenty-eight days. Four senior mentors, one from each department, guide each first-year student though this process; seniors are fully committed to living and working with the first years during these weeks, also co-facilitating with a faculty member sessions in guided meditation and elemental grounding. During periods of free time, first years can explore scared elemental spaces on their own and practice tapping into their own Mythera sources in nature.

Each week the cohorts switch houses and are assigned new senior mentors and faculty instructors. This structure speaks to Mytherial’s deep commitment to collaboration: during the Elemental Testing Period, members of all the disciplines come together to guide the first years.

At the conclusion of these four weeks, first years participate in the Elemental Selection Ceremony where they adopt their destined path.
